Cendres+Métaux Pekkton® Milling

High-performance polymer for definitive aesthetic restorations on implants

The high-performance polymer Pekkton® ivory is a solution for a definitive aesthetic restoration on implants. Resembling human bone, Pekkton® ivory convinces with simple biomechanical integration in the mouth. Owing to the low weight of the denture and its ability to absorb loads, patients benefit from completely new wearing comfort. The PEKK material used for Pekkton® ivory originates from the PAEK materials family and offers excellent mechanical properties. The high-performance polymer has established itself as a popular material for frameworks in prosthetics, in particular for superstructures. The material can be milled and pressed. The high-performance polymer Pekkton® ivory is available exclusively from Cendres+Métaux and was voted "game changing product of the year" by the American magazine "Inside Dental Technology (IDT)" in 2016 and 2018.

Pekkton® Ivory from Cendres+Métaux

The top product among thermoplastic polyaryletherketones

D Cubed Digital has endorsed a new high performance polymer for implant dentistry for approved laboratories only.

Why is Pekkton® so special? It is a material for the future that is strong and light, shock absorbing, causes no allergies, has no taste and no thermal or electrical conductivity with guaranteed consistent quality – all highly desirable qualities for the sensitive nature of dental prosthetics.

With similar characteristics to human bone, Pekkton® ivory meets the demanding biochemical criteria of prosthetic solutions to increase patient comfort with a result that is closer to nature.Pekkton®

(PEKK) stands at the apex of the PAEK hierarchy – the strength lies in its chemical structure which guarantees the best mechanical properties of all PAEK.

The compressive strength of Pekkton® ivory is comparable to human dentine and cortical bone and allows better biochemical integration than typical non-precious metals.

Benefits

Shock-absorbing: excellent for your restoration on implants
For milling and pressing: easy to mill and perfect to polish
Aesthetic: high flexibility in the choice of veneering
Definitive: happy patients thanks to the natural feel in the mouth

PEkkton FAQ

PEkkton Processing

Question: Can material be reused?
Answer: No. Too much effort would be involved in cleaning the material properly. Risk of impurity inclusions.

Question: What composite veneering materials can I use?
Answer: Pekkton® ivory was successfully tested with various veneering composites, including SR Nexco (Ivoclar Vivadent), Gradia (GC), Ceramage (Shofu), VitaVM LC (Vita Zahnfabrik), anaxblend and anaxflow (anaxdent), S.LAY (WEGOLD Edelmetalle) and Signum (Heraeus Kulzer).

Question: If a bridge doesn’t fit, can it be separated and rejoined?
Answer: No, this is not possible.

Question: How good is the precision?
Answer: The precision of single crowns is between 20 μm and 50 μm so it meets the clinical requirements of 50 μm to 120 μm maximum. However, precision always depends on how accurately the dental technician works.

Question: What is the difference between Pekkton® and PEEK?
Answer: In contrast to its competition, Pekkton® ivory has one additional ketone. One additional ketone results in better mechanical properties.Benefits for the user:Better, easier and faster to polishBenefits for the dentist:Surface is more attractive and more compact, thus decreasing the risk of bacterial colonizationLess risk of chippingThe structure of the base monomers is different. The ketone / ether ratio results in different mechanical and physical properties. The structure of the polymers is different and the process behavior leads to different results in terms of strength, rigidity, melting point and melting behavior.

Question: Indication for a removable restoration: can removable prostheses (model casting) be realized with clasps? If yes, under what conditions?
Answer: For dental applications, Pekkton® ivory is the most stable high-performance polymer on the market and ideal for fixed restorations. Due to its outstanding properties, the material is also an excellent choice in cases where a removable restoration is indicated. Compared to PEEK, however, Pekkton® ivory is less flexible. Due to the current lack of clinical experience using clasp prostheses, we do not recommend this indication at this time.

Question: Wax weight?
Answer: You can press up to 0,6g wax with a Pekkton® ivory press ingot (1g).
